GANNON, Pa. – Makayla Kelly found the back of the net a game-high six times to headline the Lock Haven lacrosse team's 13-12 victory at Gannon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division battle on Wednesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Bald Eagles move two games ahead for the battle for the third position in the PSAC West by improving to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Gannon falls to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the West.
Kelly scored six goals and dished out an assist to finish with a game-high seven points.
Emma Williams scored twice and dished out a game-high four assists to finish with six points.
Gabby Gunnip recorded a hat-trick and won two draw controls, while
Kaitlyn Collins and
Jordan Ellis also scored. Collins also dished out an assist and picked up a team-high five ground balls.
Ally Weaver and
Gretchen King finished with three groundballs and
Mackenna Brown forced a team-high three turnovers.
In net, King earned her sixth victory and finished with a game-high eight saves.
After going up 2-1 at the 8:44 mark in the first quarter, the Bald Eagles controlled the advantage until late in the third period.
However, the Golden Knights used a 4-0 run to go on top 10-9 in the final minute of the third quarter.
The Bald Eagles regained their stride to open the fourth and outscored Gannon 4-1 through the opening 10 minutes to build a 13-11 advantage with four minutes remaining.
Gannon scored their final goal at the 1:51 mark and Lock Haven held on for the victory.

The Bald Eagles return home to Charlotte Smith Field and will host Edinboro at 12 p.m. in PSAC West action.
