SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's track & field team competed on day two of the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, on Friday.
Matthew Muthler (Champion),
Josiah Schans and
Ryan Miller all broke records.
The three-day event will continue on Saturday, May 10, at Slippery Rock's William C. Lennox Track.

Decathlon Highlights
Indoor Track & Field All-American
Matthew Muthler finished the decathlon in first-place with a new PSAC All-Time and Championship meet point total of 7355 points. The afternoon also broke the Lock Haven program record set back in 2002. Muthler did this by winning half of the events, including the javelin throw (182-9) and the 1500-meter (4:21.14), today. Muthler finished in the top-five in every decathlon event the past two days. Muthler is now the PSAC Championship record holder in the heptathlon and decathlon for Indoor and Outdoor.
Nick Bellomo also shined in the decathlon, placing sixth with 6709 points, putting him third all-time in Lock Haven history. N. Bellomo finished second in the pole vault, achieving a height of 14-11. He also finished in the top-10 in the 110-meter hurdles (16.46), the discus throw (106-11), the javelin throw (150-1), and the 1500-meter (4:50.85).
Track Highlights
Josiah Schans ran an impressive time of 14.11 in the 110-meter hurdles to make tomorrow's finals and once again broke the program record for Lock Haven, besting himself by 0.14 seconds from earlier in the season.
Ryan Miller broke the Lock Haven program record in the 200-meter that he set earlier in the season; this time, his new record-breaking time of 21.19 qualifies him for the 200-meter finals tomorrow.
Joining his fellow Bald Eagle in the 110-meter hurdles was
Jorge Santana, securing the last spot in the finals with a time of 15.19.
Schans, also running the 400-meter hurdles, qualified for tomorrow's finals with a time of 55.77.
R. Miller finished in first place with an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 47.48 in the first round of the 400-meter, putting him in tomorrow's finals.
In the 3000-meter Steeplechase,
Cade McLaughlin (9:45.27) and
Evan Klinger (9:47.37) both achieved podium positions by finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Lock Haven was dominant in the 800-meter first round, with four runners qualifying for tomorrow's finals.
Morgan Gavitt (1:53.70) won the first round with
Jakob Rager (1:54.36) finishing second and Anden Aitkins (1:54.63) and
Gavin Furey (1:55.09) finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
The 4x100-meter relay squad of
Jaden Wright,
Michael Lawrence,
Brennan Miller and
Lucca Capparelli ran a time of 42.24, qualifying for the finals tomorrow.
Lawrence ran in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97, placing him 16th overall.
Field Highlights
N. Bellomo competed in the individual pole vault event and reached the podium, placing fifth with a height of 14-9.5. Also, in the pole vault event,
Kevin Taylor reached a height of 13-3.75.
Braedon Firanski reached the finals in the discus throw and finished in 9th place with a throw of 148-7.
Eric Zalar threw in the same event and threw for a distance of 141-0.
