LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Gabby Gunnip scored six goals and the Lock Haven lacrosse team used a decisive 9-2 run spanning the second and third quarters to pull away from Bloomsburg, 18-14, in the home opener at Charlotte Smith Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The victory moved Lock Haven to 1-0 on the season, while Bloomsburg dropped to 1-1.

In total, nine different Bald Eagles found the back of the net on assists from seven different players.

Gunnip was the dominant force throughout, finishing with six goals and one assist on seven shots on goal. She scored twice in the second quarter to extend a narrow lead into a five-goal cushion, then added two more in a 90-second stretch midway through the third.

Lexi Bunk added three goals and two assists, including a first-quarter strike with the assist from Makayla Kelly that gave Lock Haven a lead it would not relinquish.

Kelly contributed two goals and three assists and Jordan Ellis scored twice and added an assist.

Bloomsburg opened the scoring at 14:16 of the first quarter, but Lock Haven responded with four unanswered goals - from Bunk (twice), Brynlee Pinschenat, and Peyton Masters to lead 4-1 heading into the first-quarter break. The Huskies trimmed it to 4-2, but could never fully close the gap.
