LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven men's basketball team's game-winning attempt at the buzzer went in-and-out and visiting Bloomsburg held on for a 68-67 victory in front of a packed crowd at Thomas Fieldhouse on Monday night.
With the result, the Bald Eagles are now 7-14 on the season and 3-12 in PSAC play. Bloomsburg improved to 6-15 on the year and 3-11 in the conference.
After building a 34-28 advantage in the first half, the Huskies led by as many as 11 following back-to-back trifectas with 16:22 to go.
Blake Deegan took over the ensuing six minutes and scored eight straight points for Lock Haven, including a pair of triples, to cut The Haven's deficit to 48-47 with just under 10 minutes remaining.
However, the Huskies responded with eight unanswered points to push their advantage back to nine at 56-47 with 7:21 on the clock.
Bloomsburg held Lock Haven at bay over the next five minutes, but timely defense, a transition dunk by
Devon Nelson and another 3-pointer from Deegan brought The Haven within one with 44 seconds left in regulation.
Luke Kennevan forced a turnover on Bloomsburg's final possession to set up a good look on the offensive end, but Deegan's buzzer-beating attempt went in-and-out and the Huskies escaped with the win.
Deegan finished with a game-high 20 points (4-of-8 from three), while adding six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal.
Keith Warren also finished in double-figures, adding 12 points and two steals, while
Dean Coleman-Newsome and Kennevan chipped in nine points each. Kennevan finished with three steals and Coleman-Newsome added seven rebounds and four assists.
