PSAC releases Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches’ Poll; Haven picked to reach postseason for third straight year

The Bald Eagles were picked to finish third in the PSAC West; Lock Haven set to open season on Feb. 25

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven lacrosse team was picked to make the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason for the third straight season when the conference released its Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday afternoon.
 
Lock Haven was selected to finish third in the Western Division, behind Slippery Rock (5) and Seton Hill (1). SRU earned five-of-six first-place votes. Indiana (Pa.), Gannon and Edinboro round out the Western Division.  
 
In the East, reigning champion West Chester (6), East Stroudsburg (1) and Kutztown are ranked in the top three, while Millersville, Shippensburg, Bloomsburg and Shepherd round out the final four spots. West Chester earned six of the seven first-place votes.

The Road Ahead
The Bald Eagles open the 2026 campaign on Wednesday, Feb. 25, when they welcome Bloomsburg to Charlotte E. Smith Field for a 3 p.m. non-conference matchup to kick off the spring.
  • The opener kicks off a three-game homestand to begin the season, as The Haven follows with home tilts vs. Shippensburg (March 4) and Jefferson (March 7).
  • Lock Haven's first road test comes on Wednesday, March 11 with a trip to Tiffin (Ohio) for a 4 p.m. start.
  • The Bald Eagles return home on Saturday, March 21when they host Edinboro for their PSAC West opener.
  • The remaining PSAC West schedule features home-and-homes vs. Seton Hill, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.) and Slippery Rock.
  • Lock Haven closes the regular season on Saturday, April 25, hosting Slippery Rock at noon on Senior Day.

A Look Back at 2025
Behind a balanced attack and a breakout year from several key performers, the Bald Eagles capped the 2025 campaign at 9-8 overall and 6-4 in PSAC play, earning their second straight trip to the postseason.
 
Following the regular season, goalkeeper Gretchen King was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year, while attacker Gabby Gunnip, midfielders Nadia Baskot and Kaitlyn Collins and defender Mackenna Brown were named to the All-PSAC West Second Team. The Bald Eagles' four Second Team All-Conference selections were the most in the PSAC West.
 
Offensively, Lock Haven was paced by sophomore attacker Gunnip, who finished with team highs of 51 goals and 65 points, while Makayla Kelly added 44 goals and 61 points to give The Haven a dynamic one-two punch.
 
In the center circle, Gunnip (52 draws) and Kelly (45) helped Lock Haven control possession, Defensively, Brown (35 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers), Sam Hauck and Sarah Osmun anchored a group that finished on the positive side of both ground balls and caused turnovers for the season.
 
In goal, King started 16 of 17 games and backstopped The Haven with 181 saves, a .493 save percentage and a 9-8 record across 915 minutes. She turned in several marquee efforts, including a 22-save performance against IUP. As a team, Lock Haven outscored opponents 205-196 and shot 43 percent on the year, highlighted by a 20-goal outing against Edinboro.
