WISE, Va. – The Lock Haven softball team traveled to Virginia to take on UVA Wise this afternoon, splitting the twin bill. Lock Haven won game one in extras 2-0, and fell in game two 4-1. The Haven are now 4-4 on the season.
Game 1: Lock Haven 2 – UVA Wise 0
Game one featured another pitcher's duel, with neither team scoring in the opening seven innings.
Lock Haven was led by a spectacular pitching performance by the sophomore southpaw Talia Ross. Ross (3-1), who went all eight innings, allowed no runs on eight hits, and eight strikeouts.
Lock Haven scored two runs in the top of the eighth thanks to a Hailey Irwin sacrifice fly and an Olivia LaMeau single to drive in both Bald Eagle runs.
Maci Brodzina was the only multi-hit Bald Eagle, with two, while Gianna Goodman, Irwin, and LaMeau also added in base hits.
Game 2: UVA Wise 4 – Lock Haven 1
The Bald Eagles were only able to scratch across one run, with LaMeau driving in the lone run for game two.
Blaire Balestrini, LaMeau and Goodman each got into the hit column.
Keiva Middleton (0-2) pitched three innings of two run ball with two strikeouts. Marissa Horn and McKenzie Hannon combined for 2.1 innings, two strikeouts and no runs allowed.

The Bald Eagles will return to action tomorrow (March 8) and travel to Emory, Va. for a doubleheader against Emory & Henry, with first pitch slated at 12:00pm.
