Senior goalkeeper Jonathan Howitt of the men’s soccer team has been named this week’s Susquehanna Trailways / GoLHU.com Men’s Athlete of the Week.

The Bald Eagles opened PSAC play last week, going a perfect 2-0 and sit atop the early season conference standings thanks to the stellar play of Howitt. In Friday’s 1-0 shutout of UPJ, he was forced to make just one save, but was there to do so when called upon.

In Saturday’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Seton Hill, it was a different story – the story was Howitt. With Lock Haven leading 2-1 late in the game, Haven goalkeeper Howitt stopped a penalty shot with 4:09 left to help preserve the victory. Howitt was the difference in the win for Lock Haven, as he was credited with an assist on the Bald Eagles opening goal, before finishing with a career-high 10 saves. His long punt in the first half led to Lock Haven’s first goal of the game.
