SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (11-7, 7-2 PSAC) claimed a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular season title with a 3-1 win tonight at Slippery Rock University (7-8-2, 3-6 PSAC).

Kyle Fuerst (Athens, Pa./Dowling College) put the Bald Eagles up just 1:28 into the match after he knocked home a Kevin Wolfe (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) free kick that got behind the defense.

Martin Pletz (Pittsburgh/Carlynton) made it 2-0 in the 31st minute after he tucked home a cross from Fuerst, who worked deep in along the touchline before picking apart the SRU defense with the pass.

Chad Badorf (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) stood strong all night for LHU and made three saves in the important PSAC match.

The Rock looked to make things interesting after converting a penalty kick in the 71st minute.

From that point, the pace picked up in the physical battle, but Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) put the match away with a goal in the 85st minute.

The Bald Eagles broke in on a three-on-one breakaway and Shertzer finished a Adam Supplee (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) pass to end all doubt.

The Bald Eagles could claim the regular season crown outright, but it depends on what Millersville does tomorrow (Saturday, October 30) at West Chester as their game was snowed out today.

Lock Haven sits atop the PSAC standing with 21 points and is guaranteed a spot in one of two PSAC Tournament Semifinal matches on Wednesday night.

California (Pa.) is currently second with 19 points and clinched a playoff berth, but Millersville, who has 18 points plays tomorrow. With a win the Marauders (18 points, currently third) could tie the Bald Eagles in points at the top of the standings.

Millersville (18 points) would have to post at least a six-goal margin of victory in its game on Sunday at West Chester to surpass The Haven, who has essentially clinched the tournament's No. 1 seed.

The fourth spot in the PSAC Tournament is up for grabs. Mercyhurst currently holds the fourth spot with 12 points, but East Stroudsburg (11 points) plays at Bloomsburg tomorrow and would get in with a victory.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, November 2 as they take part in a PSAC Semifinal match.

Lock Haven's PSAC Tournament seed, opponent and game location & time to be determined based on tomorrow's results.
