LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) recorded a game-high six points and the No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-0) downed visiting and ninth-ranked Rollins College (7-3) 12-7 today in a thrilling non-conference match.

The battle between two the nation's best teams was deadlocked 5-5 after the first 30 minutes of play, but Lock Haven's offense came alive in the second half and LHU outscored RC 7-2.

Berger finished with two goals and four assists on the afternoon. She now has a team-best 46 points this season.

Along with Berger, three other Lady Eagles scored two goals apiece, including Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), who scored both her goals in the second half of play.

Berger put LHU up 1-0 at the 22:45 mark, but Rollins tied the game on a Marissa Giannerini free-position shot just over a minute later.

Three straight Haven goals put LHU up 4-1, but Rollins wasn't going anywhere and battled back to the 5-5 halftime score.

The Lady Eagles opened the second half on four goals by four different players and cruised from there.

LHU goalie Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was fantastic for the Lady Eagles and finished with nine saves.

Lock Haven's sensational defensive effort was a key for LHU and made the difference in the second half of the game.

The Haven was once again led by Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia), who caused six turnovers to go along with five groundballs and two draw controls.

Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was one of those four Lady Eagles to scored two goals. She had two goals and one assist today.

LHU held a slight 29-24 advantage in shots as the two nationally ranked teams left in all on the field.

The Lady Eagles host Edinboro University tomorrow (Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m.) in PSAC action.
