Men’s Basketball falls in close-game with Chestnut Hill

Bald Eagles host Penn State Wilkes-Barre in home-opener Tuesday

Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (1-1) fell 86-76 today to Chestnut Hill College (2-2) on the final day of the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic hosted by Shippensburg University.

The Bald Eagles, who snapped a 44 game losing skid by beating Salem International yesterday, were unable to overcome a late push by the Griffins.

The Haven trailed 39-31 at the half, but LHU battled hard in the second half and cut the CHC lead to 1, 55-54 with 10:46 to play.

The Bald Eagles were unable to gain control however, and Chestnut Hill went on a 14-5 run to open up a 69-59 lead.

Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) was dominant down low for The Haven and led all scorers with 25 points, including 14 in the second half.  Festus went 9-for-16 from the field and added a team-high nine rebounds.

Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) turned in a solid all-around performance.  The sophomore guard netted 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out a game-high six assists and blocked four shots for LHU.

Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) scored nine points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Andre Rivers (Philadelphia/Girard College) netted seven points in the game.

Chestnut Hill had five players score in double-figures, led by Mark DiRugeris' 19 points.

Lock Haven returns to the court Tuesday (November 20) when the Bald Eagles welcome Penn State Wilkes-Barre to Thomas Fieldhouse for the 2012 home-opener.  Tuesday's tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
