Last time vs. Clarion:
Last season (2/20/12), at Clarion, the Bald Eagles dropped a controversial, 19-18 decision.
The Bald Eagles were originally declared the winner immediately after the dual ended as each team had won five bouts, but it wasn't until late that night when it was realized that Clarion and match officials had incorrectly used the “tiebreaker criteria” in determining the winner.
The match ended tied 18-18. The interpretation immediately after the match by officials was that Lock Haven won 19-18 by virtue of tiebreaker 2 (most falls in a match). It turns out that criteria 2 was not interpreted correctly. It says most falls and technical falls. Both teams had one each. That moves the match onto to criteria 3, which is total match points. Clarion won the extra team point by virtue of a 33-28 advantage in match points during the dual.
Bobby Rehm, Fred Garia and
Harry Turner accounted for three of Lock Haven's five winners last year.
The Haven is 28-20-2 all-time vs. Clarion. LHU won 24-19 in 2011.
Senior Night:
Harry Turner is the lone senior in Mat Town U.S.A this year. Turner has enjoyed a strong career for the Bald Eagles and nears the 90-win plateau. Ranked 32nd in the nation this year at 285-pounds, he's 19-10 on the season with three pins. The former high school All-American, who hails from Howell, New Jersey, is a Health and Physical Education major. His future plans include both teaching and coaching.
Neff debuts in InterMat Rankings:
This week marked the first time this season where
Dan Neff was ranked in the InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News National Rankings.
The 141-punder is ranked No. 19 in both polls.
Neff is 21-7 on the year and coming off a win over Pittsburgh's Travis Shaffer on Saturday night.
Pair of Bald Eagles in National Rankings:
Both
Dan Neff and
Fred Garcia were ranked in this week's Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport D-I Rankings.
Neff sits at 22, while Garcia is ranked No. 29 at 184.
Garcia is 20-9 on the year and had his nine-match win streak snapped on Saturday night in a bout with nationally-ranked Max Thomusseit.
Four Bald Eagles in NCAA Rankings:
Four Bald Eagles were ranked in the first of three NCAA Division I Wrestling Coaches' Panel Rankings, which were released last week.
The final rankings will be a major component in the criteria used in the selection process for the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Bobby Rehm,
Dan Neff,
Fred Garcia and
Harry Turner are all ranked among the top-33 in the nation.
Neff is the Bald Eagles highest ranked athlete at No. 25. Garcia is ranked No. 29, while Rehm and Turner both sit at No. 32.
The four Bald Eagles ranked marks the most LHU has ever had since the NCAA started releasing the coaches' rankings.
Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. In order to be eligible for the rankings, wrestlers must have participated in at least five matches against Division I opponents and have wrestled within the last 30 days.

Senior
Harry Turner pinned Clarion's Brandon Contreras in 5:26 last season in the LHU-Clarion dual?
Last time out:
Lock Haven fell to No. 17 Pittsburgh, 33-6 last Saturday (1/26/13).
Lock Haven (5-4, 1-2 EWL) picked up a pair of wins on the night, but it wasn't enough, as the Panthers (7-4, 2-1 EWL) picked up valuable bonus points in six of their eight wins.
Sophomore
Bobby Rehm and redshirt-freshman
Dan Neff both won for the Bald Eagles.
Rehm won, 12-5 at 125 and Neff, ranked No. 23 at 141, won 8-1.
Rehm beat Derrick Nelson 12-5 after dominating the third period of their bout. Rehm and Nelson were knotted at 5-5 after two periods, but Rehm tilted Nelson twice, picking up three back points on each occasion, which paved the way for the lopsided score.
The win was the fifth straight for Rehm.
Neff and No. 31 Travis Shaffer were scoreless after one period, but Neff scored on a takedown midway through the second period to take a 2-0 lead after two. Two, third-period takedowns led Neff to the win in a bout featuring two of the nation's top 141-pounders.
In one of the night's marquee bouts, No. 16 Max Thomusseit of Pitt edged No. 29
Fred Garcia, 4-1 in a tough-battle.
