Cal uses long ball to outpace Lock Haven, 79-65

Haven celebrates Hooping for a Cure day to promote and support breast cancer awareness

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-17, 3-16 PSAC) fell to California (Pa.) (10-13, 9-10 PSAC) this afternoon, 79-65 in a PSAC West matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Today marked “Hooping for a Cure” day at LHU.  Hooping for a Cure is a national fundraiser to promote and support breast cancer awareness throughout February set up by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA).

Each PSAC team designated one home game this season in which they promoted Hooping for a Cure.  The Bald Eagles showed their support for Hooping for a Cure today by wearing special black and pink shirts during warm-ups.

Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti) posted a team-high 19 points in the loss, while dishing out six assists.

Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) was 7-of-12 from the floor on his way to 18 points for The Haven.

Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) came off the LHU bench to score 11 points.

The Vulcan's Quentin Harding was 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, as he scored a game-high 26 points.

California was red-hot from three-point-land, as they shot 11-for-17 (64.7%) for the game. Three different Vulcans hit three treys in the contest.

The Bald Eagles are back in action Wednesday (February 20) when LHU hosts Clarion in a PSAC West matchup.  Tipoff at Thomas Fieldhouse is scheduled for 8 p.m.

- Hepburn entered today's contest leading the PSAC in scoring at 21.6 points per game.
-  Hepburn has scored in double-figures in all 22 games this season.
- Today's game marks the second-straight contest that Festus has scored 18 points against the Vulcans.
