Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (13-6, 6-3 PSAC East) overcame a slow start and the Bald Eagles grinded out their fifth straight win, downing visiting Shippensburg (2-17, 0-9 PSAC East) 72-68.
The five-game win streak is the first since Lock Haven started 9-0 in 1989-90 and the 13 wins are the most since LHU won 13 during the 1994-95 season.
The Bald Eagles were once again led by their big three –
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti),
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) and
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester).
Hepburn netted 19 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Festus had 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Walker added 13 points.
Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) added eight points and
Dave Garcia (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) hit a pair of three's and finished with eight points off the bench.
Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) added six points and four rebounds.
Lock Haven got off to a rare slow start and Shippensburg led by as many as 14 in the first half. With 1:13 left in the first, LHU took its first lead, 33-32 on a Hepburn three-throw.
The Bald Eagles started the second on a 7-0 run in the second, but the Red Raiders didn't go anywhere as the two teams battled all the way to the game's final minutes.
Jay Hardy led Shippensburg with 19 points and Joe Lococo added 15.
