Women’s Basketball to host Kutztown Golden Bears this Saturday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (11-10, 8-8 PSAC East) returns home to face the Kutztown Golden Bears (13-8, 10-5 PSAC East) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East matchup this Saturday, Feb. 8, with tip-off set for 1 p.m. Saturday's game marks the LHU Women's Basketball team's annual alumnae day.
 
THE SERIES:
  • This is the second meeting between the Bald Eagles and Kutztown this season, the first of which came on Jan. 6, a 66-54 win for the Golden Bears.
  • Kutztown has won the past seven meetings between the two, and hold a series advantage of 11-6 dating back to the 2011-12 season. Lock Haven's last win over Kutztown came on Jan. 6, 2017, a 64-61 overtime victory.
 
NEED TO KNOW:
  • Lock Haven defeated the Mansfield Mounties 69-59 this past Wednesday (Feb. 5) at Decker Gymnasium in Mansfield. The two teams battled it out in the first half of the game, but an explosive third quarter propelled Lock Haven to victory.
  • Kutztown enters the weekend on a two-game win streak, most recently defeating Millersville 69-63 this past week (Feb. 5). The Golden Bears victory completed a two-game sweep of the Marauders, Kutztown's first sweep over Millersville in 20 years.
  • Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) notched her 1,000th point on a three-pointer with 6:07 left in the second quarter against Mansfield, becoming just the 14th LHU women's basketball player to join the prestigious club. Devine is the first player to record 1,000 points since Marrysa Moyer did on Jan. 17, 2015.
  • Marena Lonardi (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) led the Bald Eagles against the Mounties, recording a career-best 26 points while going 4-5 from behind the arc and knocking down 10 field goals, another career-best.
  • Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) led the team defensively, bringing down 10 rebounds while recording a season-high six assists.
 
UP NEXT: The Bald Eagles hit the road again next weekend to face Shippensburg on Saturday, Feb. 15. at Heiges Field House. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
