LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team prepares for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoff showdown with West Chester University on Monday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m.
Returning to the playoffs for the second time in as many years, the Bald Eagles have now reached the post season for the sixth time under the leadership of head coach
Mike Nestor.
The Bald Eagles earned the No. 6 seed in the East division after finishing the regular season at 12-14 with a 9-13 conference record. The Haven squares off against the No. 3 seed West Chester who closed with a 19-9 overall record and a 13-9 conference mark.
After splitting the season series, the Golden Rams and Bald Eagles meet for the third time this season with the home team having won the prior two matchups. On January 15, the Haven pulled a shocking 89-84 upset over the then No. 12 ranked West Chester Golden Rams.
Christian Kelly poured in a game high 27 points on 10-16 from the field as the Bald Eagles knocked off the Golden Rams.
Most recently on February 22, West Chester defended their home court against the Bald Eagles in 98-83 win as Robbie Heath knocked in 31 points for the Golden Rams. Heath paces West Chester and all PSAC scorers racking up 24.4 points per game this season.
Team Notes:
Kelly continues to lead the Haven attack averaging 20.8 points per game, which is good enough for second best in the conference.
Matt Cerruti sits at 14
th best in the conference with his own mark of 16.7 points per game.
The Bald Eagles attack the glass and currently boast two of the top rebounders in the PSAC. Kelly hauls in 7.8 rebounds per game and ranks seventh in the conference, while
Nasir Campbell sits 12
th in conference with grabbing 7.2 boards per game.
A dominant team in the paint, the Bald Eagles lead all PSAC team sin blocked shots at 4.88 blocks per game. That mark is led by two of the premier shot blockers in the league in Kelly, who averages 1.7 per game, and
Jesse McPherson who rejects 1.5 shots per game.
The balanced Lock Haven attack sits fifth in the PSAC in assists averaging 14.54 per game. Pacing the unselfish effort is
Trevor Lecuona, who leads the Bald Eagles with 97 assists this season. Freshman
Eli Washington holds the second best mark on the Bald Eagles with 63 total assists.
