Day 1 Recap
LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) dominated the field and successfully defended his 400-meter crown, and his brilliance powered the Lock Haven University men's indoor track and field team today (Sunday, Feb. 26) on the second and final day of action at the 2022-23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championships.
Miller entered the weekend as the defending indoor 400-meter champion and he left little doubt as to who is the top 400-meter runner in the league. He ran 48.94 in today's finals – another remarkable time indoors on a flat 200-meter track. The time was well under the NCAA Division II championship qualifying standard and he followed up a sensational 48.89 in yesterday's prelims.
Miller capped his individual championship performance with a seventh-place finish in today's 200-meter finals. He ran 22.54 in the 200m finals this afternoon.
Morgan Gavitt's (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) 800-meter effort helped fuel a strong day for Lock Haven. Gavitt finished third (*All-Conference; top-3) in a deep and talented field that saw winner Drew Dailey of Shippensburg break the all-time meet record. Gavitt put on a furious charge late and his kick helped him dart past several in the field over the final 100-plus meters. Gavitt's sensational time of 1:54.33 is the third-fastest time indoors in school history.
Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a strong run of 8.42.
The Haven men capped the two-day championship with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:25.39
