LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's indoor track and field team opened the weekend by traveling to University Park to compete in the Penn State Tune-Up on Friday, before heading to Ithica, New York for the Marc Deneault Invitational on Saturday at Cornell.

The Bald Eagles turned in a number of impressive marks at Penn State to headline the weekend.

Saturday's action at Cornell officially ended the regular season.

Many athletes achieved Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks throughout the two days.

PSU Tune-Up Highlights:

  • Myka Simmons reached a PSAC mark in the 60m (6.87), which places him second all-time for the Bald Eagles. Simmons also claimed first in the 200m, reaching a PSAC mark (21.63), and narrowly missed an NCAA bid. The run by Simmons in the 200m is a new indoor record for The Haven.
  • Jakob Rager placed first in the one mile, with a time of 4:10.62 time. He also scored another PSAC mark with his impressive 1:56.36 time in the 800m.
  • Brayden Frair gained a PSAC mark in the one mile (4:15.10), securing second place.
  • Gavin Furey also notched a PSAC mark in the one mile (4:15.54), good enough for fourth.
  • Josiah Schans (7.99, Lock Haven record) and Matt Reinard (8.55) achieved PSAC marks in the 60m hurdles, securing first and fifth place. This marks the third straight week Schans has broken his own school record.
  • Eric Zalar scored a qualifying mark in the shotput (49-02.50), good for third place. Zalar also achieved a NCAA Provisional Mark in the weight throw, recording a 64-04.00 throw, securing second place.
  • Lock Haven also finished first in the 4x400m relay (3:17.28).

Next up for The Haven:

The Bald Eagles now set their focus to the postseason and will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 28) to compete in PSAC Championships at Lehigh University.
