LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven men's and women's track and field teams will open their 2026 outdoor seasons at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Thursday (March 19) through Saturday (March 21).

MEN'S NOTES
Lock Haven finished fourth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in 2025.
Eric Zalar looks to build off his PSAC silver medal-winning performance last season in the Weight Throw. Zalar reached a mark of 200-1 as a sophomore.
Current Lock Haven program record holder in the 110m Hurdles Josiah Schans is expected to have another big season with a PR time of 14.11 and a third-place finish at the PSAC Championships. Schans also took second in the 400m Hurdles and holds a PR of 52.49.
Morgan Gavitt also earned All-PSAC honors in the 800m in 2025 and holds a PR of 1:52.74. Anden Aitkins, Jakob Rager, and Gavin Furey were also podium finishers in the 800m and are expected to make their mark in the distance events.
Nick Bellomo looks to build off a strong season in the Decathlon where he finished sixth in the conference. Bellomo earned a PR of 6709 points highlighted by a first-place finish in the Decathlon 100m with a time of 10.72. He was also part of the 4x400 relay team that won gold in 2025. Bellomo added a podium finish in the pole vault.
13 freshman newcomers joined the Bald Eagles in 2026. The class is highlighted by distance runner Brayden Frair who earned PSAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year honors in the fall. Sam Wible is another name to look for as he tries to build off a strong indoor season where he earned all-region honors as part of the Distance Medley Relay team.
WOMEN'S NOTES
On the women's side, Lock Haven is headlined by Nicole Carroll who took home gold in the 800m at the 2025 PSAC Championships where she became the first Bald Eagle to win the 800m since 2000. Carroll holds a PR of 2:14.83 in the event.
Samantha Trench reached the podium both on the track and in the field. Trench finished eighth in the 100m Hurdles and holds a PR of 15.07 seconds. She also earned a seventh-place finish in the High Jump when she cleared 5-5.25 (1.66m) a season ago.
Maria Puglia also earned a podium finish in the Javelin Throw at the conference championship last season. Puglia heads into her sophomore season looking to build from her PR of 136-6.
Natalie Gentzel (400m) and Elizabeth Shultz (800m) are names to watch for. Both women competed in the PSAC Championship as individuals and as part of a podium-reaching 4x400m Relay team.
Reagan Irons will look to take the momentum of a strong indoor season in the High Jump into the spring season as she earned seventh place in the event clearing 5-4.5 (1.64m).
Lock Haven added 12 freshman newcomers to the team this season.
