LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Olivia Taylor of the Lock Haven women's volleyball team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
The Athlete of the Week honor marks the third time this season Taylor has brought home the award.
Taylor anchored Lock Haven's defense during a challenging PSAC road weekend, totaling 58 digs and four service aces across two four-set matches.
Taylor opened the weekend with a standout performance against nationally competitive Shepherd, recording a match-high 25 digs while adding four service aces. Her defensive effort helped the Bald Eagles battle through a four-set match against the 12-1 Rams, including a third-set victory for Lock Haven. Taylor's 25 digs were 13 more than any other Lock Haven player in the match.
She followed that performance with another dominant defensive effort at Shippensburg, posting a match-best 33 digs in Lock Haven's 3-1 PSAC Eastern Division victory. Taylor's 33 digs were 15 more than any other player in the match and helped the Bald Eagles finish with an 82-66 advantage in team digs. Her performance was instrumental in helping Lock Haven snap a 10-match losing streak against Shippensburg dating back to 2021.
For the weekend, Taylor averaged 7.25 digs per set while helping Lock Haven go 1-1 against two PSAC opponents. Her 33-dig performance against Shippensburg marked the fourth time this season she has surpassed 30 digs.
