LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swim team put forth another tremendous effort, but in the end the Lady Eagles were edged 134-128 today at home by Kutztown University.

Junior Brittany Rehrig (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) had a huge day for Lock Haven. She picked up a pair of wins and finished second in a third event. Rehrig hit Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying marks in all three events.

Today's loss marked the first of the season for LHU in dual meet action and moves The Haven to 6-1 on the year. Last night Lock Haven beat visiting Juniata College 102-71.

The Lady Eagles took a moment to day to honor their seven seniors. Lock Haven's seven seniors, who helped transform Haven swimming, are Kasey Blesh (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy), Jenna Brooks (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore), Samantha Durham (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), Nicole Faulstick (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), Janel Kinard (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), Sarah Navarro (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Rachel Vagnoni (Norristown, Pa./Norristown).

Lock Haven won four of 14 events in today's loss.

The Haven opened the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.78).

Rehrig won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.29 – PSAC) and the 200-yard IM (2:12.22 – PSAC). She was also second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a PSAC time of 2:30.84.

Brooks made her “Senior Day” a special one as she picked up an individual win in the 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 1:00.80 was a PSAC mark.

Today also marked the second consecutive year where Lock Haven and Kutztown teamed up to help raise awareness for and battle pancreatic cancer. Both teams wore special edition swim caps in the colors of purple and white. The caps also featured the LHU logo on one side and the KU logo on the other.

The two teams took donations as well, with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society.
