Match Notes: Bald Eagles welcome local-rival Bucknell Friday night

Haven primed to end two-match losing streak to Bison

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team is set to welcome local-rival Bucknell on Friday (February 10) night at 7 p.m. for a non-conference match.

Setting the stage:
The Bald Eagles enter Friday's match coming off a convincing 28-9 win over Cleveland State last Friday in Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak for LHU and helped Lock Haven record its first league win of the year.

LHU now sits at 4-8 overall and 1-3 in EWL action.

Bucknell is 3-15 overall and 2-3 in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) action. The Bison are coming off a 27-12 loss to Army on Tuesday night. Bucknell managed four wins in the loss to the Black Knights.

The Bison feature one nationally ranked wrestler in 165-pounder, Corey Lear.

The series:
Lock Haven controls the series, which dates back to 1947. This will be the 18th meeting between the two sides with LHU leading the way with a 15-2 mark.

Bucknell's wins have come the in the last two meetings as LHU will look to snap the two-match skid on Friday.

Last year, Bucknell won 26-13 as Lock Haven managed just four wins on the night.

Current Bald Eagles John Trumbetti, Matt Bonson and Harry Turner all won for LHU.

Last time out:
Last Friday, LHU dominated visiting Cleveland State by winning eight of 10 bouts on the way to a convincing 28-9 win.

The Haven picked up a pair of bonus-point wins thanks to a major decision by Fred Garcia (184) and a pin by Harry Turner (285).

Rehm leads the way:
True-freshman Bobby Rehm has been a hammer all year for LHU at 125. His 24 wins are a team-best as he sits at 24-14 on the year.

Bonson back in the rankings:
Senior Matt Bonson (141) is back in the national rankings. The Lewistown, Pa. native is ranked No. 33 in this week's Gregg Henry's/WrestlingReport D1 rankings. Bonson is 14-7 on the year.

Creasy continues hot streak:
Senior Seth Creasy continues to roll for The Haven. The 165-poudner has won three straight matches and six of his last eight. He's 13-10 on the year and 7-4 in dual action.
