Dan Kreiger became the Lock Haven University head volleyball coach prior to the start of 2012 season, the Bald Eagles have qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament every year.
When LHU plays its quarterfinal match tomorrow (Tuesday, November 7) night at Pitt-Johnstown, it will mark Lock Haven's eighth straight trip to the conference tournament. The Bald Eagles have played in nine of the last 10 PSAC tournaments.
Lock Haven, the PSAC East's No. 4 seed, finished the regular season at 21-12 overall and LHU went 13-9 in conference play. Pitt-Johnstown earned the No. 1 seed out of the Eastern Division, thanks to a 28-5 regular season (19-3 PSAC).
Owners of six total PSAC Tournament Titles, LHU last won the tournament in 2006.
Lock Haven, ranked seventh in the most recent NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll, will meet a familiar face tomorrow night at UPJ. The two teams split the season series with the home team winning on both occasions.
Most recently (November 3), LHU beat UPJ 3-2 after trailing 2-0.
Leading the way in the season series for Lock Haven is
Sarah Gomish, who is averaging 13.5 kills per match vs. Pitt-Johnstown. She had 19 in the early-November win over the Mountain Cats.
UPJ, ranked No. 2 in the recent Atlantic Region poll, beat Lock Haven 3-1 back on October 6.
The winner of tomorrow's match will meet the winner of the Clarion – Gannon match in the PSAC semifinals.
