PSAC releases Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll; Bald Eagles open season on Sept. 4

With the 2025 Lock Haven women’s soccer season on the horizon, the PSAC announced the preseason coaches’ poll.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the Lock Haven women's soccer team, the start of the 2025 season and the second year for head coach Jesse Urquhart is on the horizon. The Bald Eagles will open the 2025 campaign on the road at California (Pa.) at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4.
 
In just his second season at the helm, Urquhart hit the recruiting trail hard and has completely revamped the roster, which will feature 30 athletes. The new-look Bald Eagles will blend 17 newcomers with a strong group of 13 returners.
 
PSAC Coaches Preseason Poll:
In preparation of the 2025 season, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released the Preseason Coaches' Poll, and Lock Haven was picked eighth in the Eastern Division.
 
Shepherd received seven of the nine first-place votes, while West Chester and Kutztown earned the final two votes for the top spot to round out the top three. Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg were picked to finish fourth and fifth, while Millersville, Shippensburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield make up teams six through nine to round out the Eastern Division.
 
In the West, Gannon earned seven first-place votes as the preseason favorite. Slippery Rock landed one first-place vote and was picked second, while Indiana (Pa.), Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown round out the top-five. California (Pa.), Edinboro and Clarion were selected six through eight to round out the Western Division.

A look back at 2024
The Bald Eagles ushered in a new era in 2024 under Urquhart.
 
The Haven finished with an overall record of 3-11-4 and conference mark of 3-11-2.
 
Lock Haven's defense finished with three clean sheets on the season and ranked in the top-five in the conference in total saves.
 
Leading the strong defensive effort was Bald Eagles' goalkeeper Megan Miller, who returns for her fourth season as the starter. Miller has appeared in 54 games in net over her first three seasons, with 279 saves and 11 shutouts.
 
The Road Ahead:
Following the season-opener on the road, Lock Haven will wrap up its three-game road stand by visiting Shepherd (Sept. 6) and East Stroudsburg (Sept. 10).
 
The Haven's home-opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 13 at Hubert Jack Stadium vs. Kutztown. The PSAC East showdown will also serve as the program's Senior Day.
 
Lock Haven's remaining home schedule features Millersville (Sept. 24), West Chester (Sept. 27), Shippensburg (Oct. 4), Mansfield (Oct. 8), East Stroudsburg (Oct. 15), Shepherd (Oct. 18) and Bloomsburg (Nov. 5).
 
The opening round of the PSAC tournament is scheduled for Nov. 8.
 
Strength in Numbers:
Coach Urquhart and the Bald Eagles announced the addition of 17 new student-athletes to the program for the 2025 season.
 
The newcomers range from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
